DEMERA Supports Wollo University with 30 Laptops to Strengthen Digital Learning

DEMERA has provided 30 laptops to Wollo University to strengthen digital learning capacity and support student participation in DEMERA's upskilling and certification programs. Rather than concentrating all devices within a single campus lab, Wollo University made a strategic decision to share these resources with key partners in its community, Dessie Specialized Hospital and Lehune Woldu Memorial Special Boarding School, while ensuring the majority of laptops support students in the core upskilling initiative at Kombolcha Technology Institute App Factory.

This distribution reflects Wollo University's commitment to its broader institutional ecosystem. By extending support to partner organizations, the university reinforces community-wide capacity while safeguarding sufficient resources for its own students to access the dedicated practice time essential for developing technical skills and pursuing industry-recognized certifications.

Of the 30 devices, 20 laptops were allocated to Kombolcha Technology Institute App Factory, enabling students in DEMERA's upskilling program to access the practice time needed to develop technical expertise. "The university's support for App Factory will play a significant role in helping students develop IT skills during their stay at the institution," noted Ato Getachew Wase, Wollo University's ICT Infrastructure Director.

Five laptops were distributed to Dessie Specialized Hospital, where they support digital training for medical professionals and the modernization of hospital systems. Dr. Endris Mohamed, Medical Director of Dessie Specialized Hospital and a lecturer at Wollo University's School of Medicine, expressed gratitude for the initiative. "Various supports are being provided to modernize the hospital's system, providing paperless services and modernizing our information management," he stated.

The remaining five laptops went to Lehune Woldu Memorial Special Boarding School, strengthening teaching and learning for students with special needs. Deputy Principal Ato Peyek Belay highlighted Wollo University's ongoing commitment: "The university is actively supporting the students by demonstrating its board chairmanship and ensuring that they do not face any resource problems.
